Two Part Harmony

Here are two recent mixed media collages. There are subtle differences between them. Both show how I use layers to make a complex, yet cohesive structure.

I usually start by printing a monotype, sometimes printing a new color over the “ghost” of another monotype, sometimes over embossed string lines. The layering continues with inked, printed shapes added. Some colored pencil shapes are drawn on the print. Cut out shapes complete the collage.

I hope you enjoy making your way, visually, under, over, around and through #1447 “Before Beginning Something New” and #1448 “ Turn Up The Volume.”
